Skool vs Ultra LMS

Skool is a community-first platform: a discussion feed, a simple Classroom, a calendar with native calls and gamification, all in one easy app. Ultra LMS suits creators who want a full academy instead — structured courses with quizzes, certificates and an AI Tutor, AI grading, and a branded website on your own domain, with payments into your own Stripe or Razorpay account. It offers lesson Q&A threads rather than a community feed.

At a glance

Skool is a good fit for

  • Creators whose main product is a community rather than a full academy
  • Coaches running group calls and engagement-driven memberships
  • People who want a simple community and course setup with little configuration

Ultra LMS is a good fit for

  • Creators who want structured courses with quizzes, assignments and certificates
  • Academies that want their own branded website and domain, not a hosted group
  • Sellers who want payments in their own Stripe or Razorpay account, including UPI

Fair is fair

Where Skool shines

Skool is a community-first platform on skool.com that combines a discussion feed, a simple course Classroom, events with native calls and gamification.

In the table, Skool is ahead of Ultra LMS on gamification, live classes & webinars, community & discussions, affiliate programme, native mobile app and team seats (B2B).

  • A very simple community-first experience: feed, classroom, calendar, chat and leaderboards in one place.
  • Gamification with points, levels and level-locked courses, built to drive engagement.
  • Native live calls with screen share and recording, plus webinars on the Pro plan.
  • Flexible membership models: subscriptions with trials, multiple tiers and one-time purchases.
  • Skool acts as merchant of record and handles sales tax and EU VAT collection.

Decide

Who should choose which

Choose Skool if…

  • your main product is an engaged community and the courses are secondary
  • you want points, levels and leaderboards to keep members active
  • you want native group calls without a separate video tool
  • you'd rather Skool act as merchant of record and handle sales tax

Choose Ultra LMS if…

  • you want structured courses with quizzes, assignments, certificates and an AI Tutor
  • you want your own branded website, blog and custom domain instead of a group on skool.com
  • you want payments in your own Stripe or Razorpay account, with UPI
  • you want a built-in CRM and email campaigns to market your courses

Moving over

Switching from Skool

What you can take with you, and how Ultra LMS helps you settle in.

Getting your data out of Skool

  • Skool has no documented public API, so exports rely on the admin interface and Zapier.
  • Collect member names and emails through an admin export if your group has one, or capture new members via Zapier.
  • Download your course videos and files, and keep your own records of transactions.
  • Community posts, comments, DMs and leaderboard history are generally not portable, according to third-party migration guides.
  • Because Skool is the merchant of record, active subscriptions can't move to your own gateway; members usually re-subscribe.

Settling into Ultra LMS

  • Import learners from a CSV, enrol them in bulk, and keep their details in the built-in CRM.
  • Rebuild courses quickly: upload your existing documents as references and the AI course builder drafts an outline and lessons for you to edit.
  • Onboarding is hands-on — our team sets up your academy, domain and payments with you.
  • Your data stays portable: export the whole academy, CSVs, and any course as a ZIP or Word document.
